On behalf of Jordan University of Science and Technology and myself, we are so thrilled to be hosting the first Jordanian – Australian Neurosurgical Conference being organized by the Department of Neuroscience / Faculty of Medicine at Jordan University of Science and Technology.
We look forward to establishing further venues of cooperation at many levels and in different fields with Australian medical institutions. I am quite certain, this scientific meeting brings with it a wealth of new techniques and advances in all neurosurgical fields and will offer such an invaluable opportunity for the exchange of experiences in a way that will reflect positively on the medical services rendered to patients in this part of the world as we learn from countries that have surpassed us in such areas of expertise.
We are quite honored to see amongst us here today some of the best world experts in neurosurgery who have joined in particularly from Australia and Germany. Their participation would indeed offer a unique opportunity in creating links of communication between academics and researchers from across the globe. As such, this forum brings together participants from various institutions that bring about the much needed cultural diversity towards the exchange of new trends and useful skills in the rather important field of neurosurgery.
As I welcome you to this opening session, I would hope that in the next couple of days much progress will come about on the road towards establishing the much sought venues of collaboration between Jordan and other friendly nations across different parts of the world in the field of expertise you are conferring on.
Indeed, enjoy your stay here with us and welcome to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; a historically one of the prime cross roads from the traditionally ancient into the realm of modern day society.

We are proud to say that all specialties and subspecialities, including neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, plastic surgery, urology, maxillofacial surgery and biotechnology and genetics are existing and we compete the entire world with complex surgeries performed in the hospital at high levels that include complex neurosurgeries.
Many researches have been conducted at all levels in the hospital and published in the high rank journals.
The hospital with it all capacities provides its teaching facilities and training basically to medical students, and nursing, pharmacy, laboratories, physiotherapy, occupational and bioengineering students. In addition to the residency academic training programs of more than 15 specialties to local and overseas residents.
.
Since 2004, KAUH has been awarded ISO and certificate of Jointed international accreditation
(CJIA) certificates for it is standard medical services and community development. It is an accredited hospital for the Jordanian medical Council and Arab medical board of all specialties.
The neuroscience department is unique in the region as it is integrated from variant sections that include Psychiatry, Adult and Pediatric Neurology, Spine units and rehabilitation unit; besides to Neurosurgery unit. We are looking forward to including neuroradiology and neuropathology in the future.
The department of neurosurgery is a very busy unit. It provides its health services to the northern province of Jordan. It provides teaching programs to the medical students and training programs to residents. The department is run by three Neurosurgeons. They operate at average of 600-700 cases per year. Beside their general neurosurgical practice each consultant has a special interest in neurosurgery, this includes pediatric, vascular, spine and oncology, and they operate on complex cranial and spinal cases with excellent outcome.
Our guests, welcome to Jordan and have a great scientific conference.
