The Organizing Committee is pleased to announce the International Conference “Civil Engineering for Sustainability and Resilience” CESARE’14 co-organized by the Department of Civil Engineering of the Jordan University of Science and Technology, the Department of Civil Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the School of Civil Engineering of the University of Birmingham. The CESARE’14 Conference is devoted to the presentation of the most recent results and to the discussion of key issues concerning the contribution of Civil Engineering to Sustainability and Resilience in modern and future built environment, constructions and infrastructure. In particular, the CESARE’14 topics will cover the following Civil Engineering disciplines: Structural Materials, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Building Physics, Environmental Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Transportation, Road Management, Restoration of Monuments and Historical Buildings, Energy Systems, Wind Energy Structures and Facade Engineering within the framework of Sustainability, Resilience and Robustness. The CESARE’14 Conference will enable scientists and engineers from the academia, research and practice of Civil Engineering to present their most recent research outcomes on any issue on the Sustainability and Resilience of modern urban habitat and future cities environment. The Conference will be held in a 5-stars Hotel in downtown Amman from 24-27 April 2014. Amman, Jordan’s capital is one of the most important political, cultural and commercial centers in the Middle East. Amman (Philadelphia of the Decapolis and Rabbah of Ammonites) is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Jordan, being a land rich in history, offers a wealth of archaeological sites, natural treasures and friendly human environment. Guided trips to Petra, Dead Sea, Jordan River and Jerrash will be organized after the Conference sessions for those participants who would be interested in visiting these unique places. After the Conference, certain papers will be selected and published in a special issue of the Jordan Journal of Science and Technology.
