The Center of Excellence for Innovative Projects signs a memorandum of cooperation with the German Foundation for International Cooperation GIZ to hold a Solid Waste hackathon
Within the Solid Waste Management in Jordan (SoWas) project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), supported by the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and in partnership with the Jordan University of Science and Technology, the university, represented by the Center of Excellence for Innovative Projects, signed a memorandum of cooperation with the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) today, Sunday, 9/2/2025, to hold a hackathon entitled (Solid Waste Management), which aims to improve the institutional conditions of the waste management sector in Jordan, with a focus on enhancing capabilities by developing waste management plans with the participation of the public and private sectors by finding creative and innovative solutions in the field of solid waste management in several areas, including: recycling and sustainable solutions, smart solutions using the Internet of Things or artificial intelligence, and sustainable and environmental solutions in the fields of health, education and culture.
The memorandum was signed on behalf of the university by the Director of the Center of Excellence for Innovative Projects, Prof. Muhannad Qwaider, and Mrs. Amanda Saffouri Director of the SoWAs Project. Through the project, many scientific and entrepreneurial workshops will be held to develop projects. The winning teams will also have the opportunity to incubate their ideas and projects in the center's technological incubator.
