Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights and its Role in Achieving Sustainable Development at the University of Technology
The Center of Excellence for Innovative Projects held a dialogue seminar on intellectual property rights and its role in achieving sustainable development, which was attended by the President of the University of Science and Technology, Dr. Omar Jarrah.
Director of Al-Tamir Center for Creative Projects Dr. Fahad Awad said that the objective of this seminar is to achieve one of the strategic objectives of the Center, namely, the preservation of the intellectual property rights of the University, which begins to spread awareness and intellectual property culture in the university community.
The workshop was moderated by Dr. Mohammed Al Jaafari, Managing Director of TIGER Intellectual Property Office, Dr. Abeer Al-Ghannam, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University and Dr. Malik Hdeib, Assistant Director of the Center of Excellence for Creative Projects.
Dr. Jaafari spoke about the current state of intellectual property policies in Jordan, including Jordan's recent signing of an agreement with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the importance of intellectual property policy in higher education institutions,
Dr. Hadeeb talked about the Center's technology transfer office, the new IP policy and instructions at the university, the number of patent applications submitted, future plans and aspirations for technology transfer. Dr. El-Ghannam spoke about her long experience and the importance of networking and cooperation between academic institutions Industry and its economic and scientific impact on all parties.
Dr. Al-Jarrah gave a short speech in which he said that the university is in the process of transitioning from producing graduates to job seekers to graduates who are able to create jobs and new jobs, which helps to get rid of the problem of unemployment and that is the basis from which the idea of establishing the Center of Excellence for projects Creative.
