University students win fourth and fifth place in Irbid Hackathon for Innovative Technology
A group of university students participating in the Erada Program initiative won fourth and fifth place in the Arbid Innovative Technology Hackathon on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. The hackathon was organized in collaboration with Yarmouk University, the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, the Irbid Chamber of Industry, Dinarc, Plan International (Ready for Tomorrow), the ESCWA Technology Center, the Queen Rania Center for Jordanian Studies and Community Service, and the Al Hussein Fund for Creativity and Excellence, in the presence of the coordinator of the Irada Program initiative at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation. The Smart Box project won fourth place and was represented by Ahmed Rashid, Talal Hazaymeh and Raneen Rashid Talal Hazaymeh.
The FaultFix project, which uses artificial intelligence to predict factory malfunctions, came in fifth place. It offers a smart system that predicts malfunctions before they occur, reducing downtime and increasing operational efficiency and production quality. It was represented by Suwar Mahmoud Aida, the project's creator, and engineer Alaa Al-Saleh , a quality expert, and Louai Ahmed Oda Al-Dhiabat, an artificial intelligence and model selection expert, in the presence of the head of the training division at the center, Engineer Nidaa Al-Rubaie.
It is worth noting that the hackathon aims to support and empower young entrepreneurs to develop innovative technological solutions that contribute to addressing development challenges in all sectors in the Irbid Governorate by linking modern technology to the needs of the local community. More than 160 participants registered, of whom 30 qualified for the training stage. These participants, who included university and college students, graduates, and entrepreneurs, presented innovative ideas and projects, 11 of which were evaluated and selected.
