The Hackathon for Using Technology to Find Environmentally Friendly Solutions concludes at the Center of Excellence for Innovative Projects.
As part of the SAXEED.ECO project, supported by the DAAD and in partnership with the Jordan University of Science and Technology, Yarmouk University, the University of Mostaghanem in Algeria, and Chemnitz University in Germany, the Hackathon for Using Technology to Find Environmentally Friendly Solutions concluded today, Wednesday, June 25, 2025. The event began on Monday, June 23, 2025, at the Center of Excellence for Innovative Projects and continued for three days, from June 23-25, 2025. The Center Director, Professor Muhannad Quwaider, thanked the attendees and participating students. The event was also attended by the Center's Deputy Director, Dr. Wafaa Taan; the Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Yarmouk University, Dr. Omar Ghamo; and Dr. Mashhour Bani Amer from Yarmouk University, in addition to the Center's staff. Training workshops were held for participants on business model development and conceptual design. Presentation skills and requirements for judging panels, and protection of intellectual property rights, are also included, enabling them to prepare the best presentations of their ideas before the judging panel.
It is worth noting that this hackathon and competition aims to motivate students to innovate and create technological solutions to address contemporary challenges in finding environmentally friendly solutions. Finally, the ideas and projects submitted by 52 students representing 12 teams were discussed, resulting in the first place award to the ECO DRONE GUARD team, represented by students Mohammed Al-Omari, Ahmed Al-Jayousi, and Hussein Freihat from the University of Science and Technology. The HUSH HUB team, represented by students Rawaa Abdul Karim and Dima Al-Khatib from Yarmouk University, secured second place and the DH2O team, represented by Duaa Mashaaleh and Huthaifa Muslimani from Yarmouk University, secured third place. Prizes were awarded to the top three winning teams, and certificates of participation and training were provided to participants in the hackathon. The workshops were presented and implemented by Dr. Nevin Bani Melhem and Dr. Saleh Bazzi from the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Yarmouk University.
