On the occasion of the university's celebrations of King Abdullah II's anniversary, the Center of Excellence for Innovative Projects invites you to participate in the "AI Drone Autonomy Challenge," which will be held on Thursday, 27/2/2025, under the supervision of Dr. Ahmad Bani Younes, who is a visiting associate professor at the Nano Technology Institute of JUST, an associate professor in Aerospace Engineering at San Diego State University, the director of the SPACE Laboratory, and a leading expert in unmanned aerial vehicles. The competition involves executing and building specific missions using drones and autonomously piloting them within AI algorithms.
Training workshops will also be held during the period 23-26/2/2025 for the use of drones in the upcoming competition.
The challenge will include completing autonomous drone missions based on AI algorithms:
- Search and rescue mission: the drone will search for individuals and report identities based on face recognition.
- QR and Cyper solution: The drone will search for a sequence of QR codes to solve secured messages for cyper threads.
- A similar mission will be based on hidden colored objects for decoding the messages.
- Search and land on suitable moving object: the drone will search for a landing sign on a moving object and land on it autonomously.
- Autonomous Object Avoidance: the drone will detect objects in the path and avoid it based on onboard camera system and land safely on target.
- And more fun
