Center for Sustainable Development Studies & Technology-JUST-(CSDST) at Jordan University of Science and Technology JUST recently conducted a comprehensive training workshop titled "Digital Advocacy Tools for Social Accountability" in Bani Kenana District/Irbid Governorate. The workshop aimed to equip active members of the local community with the necessary knowledge and skills to utilize digital advocacy tools effectively.
Hosted at
بلدية الكفارات the Al-Kafarat Municipality Building/Bani Kenana District, the workshop delved into the mechanisms of employing digital advocacy for enhancing social accountability. Participants were guided through theoretical and applied case studies, illustrating how these tools could be used to address specific societal challenges such as reporting and tracking problems within the local community.
The workshop, led by Prof. Ammar Almaaytah, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Director of the CSDST at JUST, emphasized the role of social accountability in improving institutional performance, particularly in health institutions. Prof. Almaaytah highlighted that the goal of the workshop was to prepare individuals to actively engage in the accountability system, enabling them to demand improved services and contribute positively to decision-making processes.
Acknowledging the rapid technological advancements shaping contemporary society, Prof. Almaaytah underscored the importance of integrating digital advocacy tools into social accountability practices. He emphasized that the workshop's objective went beyond raising awareness, aiming to empower local community members to participate effectively and build their capacities for positive impact in their communities.
This workshop is part of the third phase of the project "Developing Efficient Social Accountability Strategies for Better Health Outcomes within Jordan." It aligns with the broader initiative "Enhancing Social Accountability and Empowering Civil Society Institutions to Achieve Good Governance," carried out in collaboration with
راصد الأردن _ RASED Jordan. The project is co-funded by the
European Union in Jordanan Union Delegation in Jordan and
AECID Jordan , as part of
#NAZAHA project.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Ms. Islam Al-Tamimi, the Director of the Projects Department at CSDST, expressed gratitude to Mr. Hussein Obeidat, President oب Al-Kafarat Municipalityب
