The Center for Sustainable Development Studies and Technology (CSDST) at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) Advances Healthcare Accountability in Irbid District.
The Center for Sustainable Development Studies and Technology (CSDST) at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) has successfully organized an engaging session for a "Focus Group" in the Bani Kenana District/Irbid. This strategic initiative is part of the ongoing project, "Developing Effective Social Accountability Strategies for Better Health Outcomes within Jordan."
Under the leadership of Professor Ammar Almaaytah, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Director of CSDST, the session was hosted at Yarmouk Hospital, Bani Kenanah District/Irbid. Dr. Muhannad Odeh, Professor of Pharmacy at Hashemite University, moderated the event, leading discussions on governance and social accountability concepts. This is a pivotal component of the health situational analysis study being executed by CSDST.
Expressing gratitude, Professor Almaaytah thanked Dr. Ahmed Al-Okour, Director of Yarmouk Hospital, and the dedicated medical staff for their active participation. He emphasized the importance of such collaborations, highlighting their positive impact on local communities and the nation as a whole.
The session, marking the second phase of the project, aims to identify practical tools and strategies to bolster governance and social accountability. The overarching goal is to enhance effectiveness, responsiveness, and empower individuals, fostering trust between citizens and public sector entities. This, in turn, strengthens relationships between service providers and recipients.
Importantly, this initiative falls under the broader umbrella of the project titled "Developing Effective Social Accountability Strategies for Better Health Outcomes within Jordan." This project, implemented in cooperation with the Al-Hayat Center - Rased, includes the component "Enhancing Social Accountability and Empowering Civil Society Institutions to Achieve Good Governance." Funding for the project is provided by the European Union Delegation to Jordan and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), as part of the "Nazaha" project.
