Position: External Researcher: Assessing Social Accountability in Jordan's Healthcare Sector.
Within the framework of the "The Development of Efficient Social Accountability Strategies for Better Health Outcomes within Jordan." project, a component of the broader initiative titled "Enhancing Social Accountability and Empowering Civil Society Institutions to Achieve Good Governance", and implemented in collaboration with the Al-Hayat Center - RASED, as part of the second component of the NAZAHA project co-funded by the European Union in Jordan and AECID Jordan (the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation).
The Center for Sustainable Development Studies and Technology at Jordan University of Science and Technology is seeking an experienced external researcher to collaborate on an important study aimed at assessing the social accountability status within Jordan's health sector in the northern part of the country (Irbid Province). This study follows the successful completion of the center’s focused social accountability training workshops which were held in the north of Jordan and is a crucial step in enhancing transparency .
Project Overview: Following the successful completion of intensive training workshops on social accountability in collaboration with various civil society organizations in northern Jordan, the
Center for Sustainable Development Studies & Technology-JUST is seeking an external researcher to conduct an in-depth analysis of the current state of social accountability in Jordan's healthcare sector, specifically in the northern region. The primary objective of this study is to provide a comprehensive assessment of social accountability at both national and sub-national levels in Jordan, with a particular emphasis on healthcare outcomes.
Study Components: The situational analysis will encompass the following sources and three core sub-activities:
1.Structural Dialogue: Engaging in structured dialogues with key stakeholders from the public health sector and the local community representing the northern region of Jordan. These conversations will provide invaluable insights into the current state of social accountability in the Jordanian healthcare sector.
2.Focus Group Meetings: Conducting focus group meetings with representatives from the local community and civil society organizations involved in healthcare services. These meetings are designed to capture diverse perspectives and gather valuable input regarding challenges and opportunities in social accountability.
3.Literature Review: Conducting a comprehensive review of global best practices in conducting social accountability studies in the healthcare sector. This will inform our methodology and approach.
Qualifications and Requirements: We are seeking an external researcher who possesses the following qualifications and experiences:
•Holders of a Ph.D. in healthcare-related disciplines.
•Preferably, individuals with prior experience in healthcare settings, especially within the healthcare sector.
•Proficiency in designing and executing targeted programs and surveys, including focus groups, qualitative research, and policy development.
•Proven experience in collaborating with public health providers and health policymakers.
•Familiarity with Jordan's healthcare system and its social dynamics.
•The ability to work collaboratively with our team of academic experts and volunteers.
•A clear commitment to ethical research practices and data confidentiality.
•The period of work will be determined through an agreement between the Center and the external researcher. The study is expected to take between [2 to 3 months] from [October 15, 2023], with the possibility of completing the study by January 1, 2024.
