The National
Technical University of Athens (Greece), Jordan
University of Science and Technology (Jordan), Politecnico
di Torino (Italy), University of Cyprus, Al-Albayt University (Jordan), and Al-Ain University (UAE) are organizing
the 1st ADDitively Manufactured OPTimized
Structures by means of Machine Learning (ADDOPTML2024), 2nd
International Conference on Optimization Driven Architectural Design
(OPTARCH2024), and 2nd Engineering and Applied Sciences Optimization
(OPT-ii2024) to be held in Amman,
Jordan from October 1st- 4th,
2024.
The purpose of the ADDOPTML2024,
OPTARCH2024, and OPT-ii2024 conferences
is to bring together the scientific community working in the broader field of
Engineering Optimization and Architectural Design including problems
formulation, computational methods and software development, and to create and
validate a holistic machine learning aided, optimum design-manufacturing
process of civil structures by developing strong synergies among a
multi-disciplinary team of academic expert. ADDOPTML2024, OPTARCH2024,
and OPT-ii2024 conferences
will facilitate the exchange of ideas in topics of mutual interest and will
serve as a platform for establishing links between research groups with
complementary activities. Thus, the communities of Mathematical Programming and
Nature-Inspired Search Algorithms will become more familiar with important
application areas arising from Architectural design real-world, Applied
Sciences and Engineering problems. Moreover, the Architectural Design, Applied
Sciences, and Engineering Communities will be exposed to advanced numerical
methods and software tools, which can highly assist in tackling combinatorial
optimization problems. As a primary application, an integrated structural
design framework based on AM-optimized structural elements for transitional
structures will be developed, to address the shortage of hospital units faced
by many countries as the coronavirus pandemic continues to sweep the World and to
develop novel human shelter structures for post-disaster housing.
Amman has served as the modern and ancient
capital of Jordan. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the
world, with a 1994 excavation uncovering homes and towers believed to have been
built during the Stone Age, circa 7000 BCE. There are many Biblical references
to the city, which by about 1200 BCE had become the Ammonite capital of
Rabbath-Ammon. The Ammonites fought numerous wars with Saul, David, and others. Amman
is built on seven hills, or jabals, each of which more or less defines a neighborhood.
Most jabals once had a traffic circle, and although most of these have now been
replaced by traffic lights, Amman’s geography is often described in reference
to the eight circles which form the spine of the city. First Circle is located
near downtown, and the series extends westward through Eighth Circle.
