The Department of Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery was established along with the Faculty of Dentistry in 1983. Upon initiation, it included Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and Periodontics. Currently, the Department consists of the following specialties: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Oral Medicine. Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Oral Diagnosis Oral Biological Sciences.
The Department of Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery is responsible for teaching and researching diseases of the mouth, jaws and face. Teaching is integrated into the dental curriculum and at all stages of the courses.
The Department trains undergraduate and postgraduate dental students in the various fields of Oral and maxillofacial Surgery, Medicine, Pathology and Radiology. Students learn how to manage all forms of dental emergencies in the ITU clinics affiliated to the Department. Furthermore, the Department is responsible for teaching all basic biological oral sciences.

- High Specialty Certificate in Dentistry/ Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
