The University Board of Trustees was established by a Royal Decree on September 5th 1998. It consists of the Chairman, the University President and ten other distinguished scholars, and ex-officio businessmen and community members.

The Board of Trustees shoulders all responsibilities pertaining to the university's independence, the augmentation of its services, and the achievement of its aims.

The Board of Trustees exercises final authority over the university. Its principal roles include supervising the general affairs of the university, ensuring the implementation of the university's academic & educational policies, as well as fund-raising. It is also in charge of evaluating the activities of the university and establishing the university's general policies & regulations on technical, financial and administrative issues.
