TOUR IN WORKSHOPS
The Engineering workshops serve the University objectives through teaching & training, and serving the local community. The Workshops which were established in 1986, consist of tow departments:
· Department of Manufacturing and Production
· Department of training & design
Those departments are consisting of following sections:
· Metal Machining Section.
· Metal Forming Section.
· Carpentry and Painting Section.
· Glass Forming Section
· Industrial Equipment Maintenance section
· Design section
· Training section
· Auditing and data entry section
There are eight different training workshops used to train students on various skills in engineering workshops:
· Machining (lathe, milling, and grinding machines).
· Filling and Metrology.
· Electricity.
· Pipe Fitting
· Welding.
· Metal forming
· Casting.
· Wood Working.
The Engineering Workshops occupy three buildings, which designed especially to achieve workshops goals. The total area is about 5500 square meters. The Workshops are well equipped with modern computerized equipment, and hence capable of producing precise dimensions in different materials such as metal, wood, glass, or plastic. There are about seventy technicians and engineers in different specializations who work in training and production.
Educational Objectives
One of the main duties of Engineering Workshops is to aid in the education plans for the different departments in the Faculty of Engineering. The engineering students in different departments get their training in many practical courses in the Workshops. Moreover, undergraduate and graduate students and faculty members in the faculty of engineering build there research models and perform there experimental work in the Workshops.
The Engineering Workshops are the most up to date in the northern region of Jordan, the University used to holds regular training courses on its premises for students in engineering community colleges and vocational schools, as well as for local industrial establishments in the area.
Production Objectives
The Engineering Workshops are capable of producing most of the University requirements of furniture and metal works. In addition, special spare parts are produced to serve the University and local community. Also maintenance and modifications of some equipment are performed. The Workshops often make educational equipment and (pipes, bottles, etc…) needed by different chemistry laboratories.
