Decreasing the Duty Hours of the Residents at King Abdullah University Hospital

Thursday, October 10, 2019 /// As an unprecedented national initiative across the country, the deanship of medicine led by Dr. Nael Obeidat at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) has launched, with coordination with King Abdullah University Hospital's administration, a new system concerned with regulating the working hours for resident doctors at the hospital. Starting in October 2019, the resident who finished an overnight on-call will be able to be dismissed home the next morning at around 10 am.
This agreement came in response to directions from Dr. Saeb Khreisat, president of JUST, and is in keeping with regulations at renowned international hospitals and universities and is consistent with ACGME guidelines.
This initiative is considered progress towards improving the social and physical aspects of the resident's career and will certainly be positively reflected on the medical service provided for our patients.
