On behalf of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Social Development, Ms. Hala Latouf Bseisu, inaugurated the Media and Informatics Education Conference under the title "Let's Begin a New Understanding of our Information" that was organized by Jordan University of Science and Technology in cooperation with Deutsche Welle Academy and Family and Childhood Protection Society.
Ms. Latouf stressed that security and social peace are important issues that must be stressed from legal and social perspectives. She also emphasized that this concept must be dealt with in an integrative manner, pointing out that enhancing security and community peace requires us to consider moral and social justice which is governed by the values of respect, honesty, and respect for others, calling for the citizens' right to receive the real information.
Prof. Saeb Khreisat, the University President, pointed that the conference comes in a belief within the framework of the University's strategic plans to open up to the local and civil society and to promote dialogue, understanding and partnership within the framework of clear visions, outlined by the Seventh Discussion Paper of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
Prof. Qutaiba Khatatbeh, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Arts, said that the university introduces its students to the latest developments and challenges that may face them from cybercrime, and tracking of data and false news through curricular and extracurricular activities. He also mentioned that the course of social responsibility is one of the most important courses dealing with the most important issues and developments within the community and how to deal with them through promoting the values of social responsibility among students.
The conference discussed a number of topics related to the future of media and informatics education.
