Computer and Information Technology is by far the largest and fastest growing industry in the world. Demand for high performance computing is a driving force for developments in all aspects of business and education. At the same time, computers have become an integral part of many large systems that require sophisticated control including automobiles, medical instrumentation, telecommunication systems, and factory automation.

Computers play a major role in many of today's exciting new technologies, including consumer products, interactive multimedia, and high-speed computer networks. The development of these applications requires professionals with skills in both hardware and software design.

We are proud to be Jordan's first and largest faculty of computer and information technology , paving the way to provide internationally-recognized quality information technology teaching and research. Our roots go back to the Department of Electrical Engineering (1979) and Department of Mathematics and Statistics (1986).

A large number of our graduates hold prestigious positions worldwide and undertake numerous challenging and interesting professional roles.

In 1998, the Department of Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science were established in the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Science and Arts, respectively.

 

The Faculty of Computer and Information Technology was established in 2000, in accordance with the University's mission to attain academic excellence and to accelerate the evolution of human resources.
We currently have three departments: Department of Computer Engineering, Department of Computer Science and Department of Computer Information Systems.

 

We have a distinguished body of faculty members who are dedicated to provide innovative teaching, research, and community services. Currently, we have 27 faculty members, 11 instructors, and 24 lab assistants. The faculty size is continuously increasing to support the high demand in all fields of information technology. In addition, we have a very well structured-scholarship program to send the best candidates to leading universities to pursue their graduate studies. Currently, we have 40 graduate students on scholarships abroad.

 

Our distinguished student body is the focal and centric point in all our efforts. Currently, we have 1449 undergraduate and 185 graduate students from Jordan and the Middle East. The University provides many services such as housing, health insurance, and many extracurricular activities.
