
The department was established in September, 1992 by a decision of the Dean's Council. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics aims to give mathematically oriented students a liberal education in quantitative problem solving.
The department offers Mathematics instruction to undergraduate students in all disciplines. The department offers both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Mathematics. We are proud that we have qualified faculty members graduated from reputed universities worldwide. Currently we have 23 faculty members and 3 instructors, and the department serves at least 3000 students from other disciplines each semester. In the department we have more than 425 undergraduate and more than 40 graduate students.
We have established a computer laboratory of 34 P4 2.8 GHZ PC's equipped with the major mathematical and satistical packages including MATHEMATICA, MATLAB, and SPSS. In addition, we have 2 computer laboratories for graduate students consisting of 20 PC's.
