Forensic science is the application of scientific principles and techniques to support the law and the legal process. The application of scientific methods to crime, police investigation and the adjudication process; and the legal, ethical, natural science, mathematical and laboratory skills are required for forensic work because they became important tools to work in crime labs, law enforcement agencies, police departments, and toxicology and pathology labs.

It is used to determine counterfeit materials, the validity of signatures on legal documents, business fraud, the source of pollutants in environmental issues and the relationship between suspects and crimes.
