The objectives of the Biotechnology Program is to enable students to acquire proficiency in the following areas:Understanding of basic biotechnology theories.
Perform highly technical procedures fundamental to biotechnology such as DNA extraction and characterization, cloning, polymerase chain reaction, blotting, ELISA, electrophoresis, tissue culture, transfection, protein isolation and purification.
Strength in one of the key areas (molecular biology, protein engineering, vaccine production, industrial microbiology and plant breeding) of biotechnology through conducting an independent research project in their final year.
Skills for effective writing, oral communication and managing laboratory activities.
Analyzing of protein and DNA sequencing using computer technology including the Internet and software designed for such purposes. In addition student will be able to conduct statistical analysis and graphical display.
Student will be aware of the ethics of Biotechnology.
