Th Department of Applied Physics was established in September 1992 in order to offer service courses in physics to students of other faculties at the University. Since its establishment, the Department had given much attention to employing highly qualified academic teaching staff. At the same time, emphasis was placed on sending top B.Sc. graduates in physics on scholarships to the USA & Canada to obtain Ph.D. degrees in the different fields of physical sciences.

By 1996, (7) scholars, completed their Ph.D. studies and joined the other (11) academic staff at the Department, allowing the initiation of its B.Sc. program in physical sciences which was carefully designed to give students a solid foundation in this basic science and to provide practice in its principal and advanced technologies. |
