The dpartment aims to deliver the most recent advances in physiology to all medical faculty  students, in medicine, dental, pharmacy, nursing and allied health. It also teaches student practicals that are  appropraite  to their  specialty, like, haemoglobin and haematocrit measurement, blood pressure measurement, ECG recording and respiratory tests.

The department also partcipates in the work of the cardiovascular diagnostic lab in Princess Basman Hospital by examining patients by Eco-cardiography and ultrasound.
