The Department of Electrical Engineering was founded at Yarmouk University in 1979, and moved to JUST in 1986.
The Department offers the degree of Bachelor of Science in two areas of electrical engineering:  

•  Power and Control
•  Communications and Electronics 

The B. Sc. degree is awarded after successful completion of 159 credit hours in addition to practical training of not less than 8 weeks.
The undergraduate curriculum provides a broad foundation in both standard and modern topics in electrical engineering.

 The first year of study is mainly devoted to basic sciences; the following three years include basic engineering sciences and broad electrical engineering fundamentals, while the fifth year permits a reasonable amount of specialization through specialization packages and elective courses.

The Department has also initiated an M.Sc. program in 1980 in response to the market needs, and, as a result to the success of the B. Sc. program. 

The Department offers M.Sc. degree in Power and Controls after completion of (34) credit hours and the successful preparation of the thesis.
