The Department of Prosthodontics totally supports the faculty concept of developing competent graduates. Accordingly, the goal of a competency-based academic program is to provide students with learning experiences that allow the integrated development of multiple components of competence. Dental students must demonstrate that they comprehend, can perform, and integrate the essential skills, knowledge, and values without assistance in realistic patient care settings.
The Department of Prosthodontics plays a significant role in both pre-clinical and clinical training of dental students. Pre-clinical courses which cover the disciplines of complete denture prosthodontics, removable partial denture prosthodontics occur in the 3rd year in the University campus where well-equipped laboratories can accommodate 80 students per session and a new plan is being prepared to accommodate higher numbers of students per session. This stage aims to improve students' skills before they deal directly with patients in the clinical phase
The clinical stage is carried out in the Dental Teaching Health Center in Irbid, where there are 20 dental units for the Prosthodontic practical sessions.
There are 9 faculty members all of whom are highly qualified in different aspects of Prosthodontics, in addition to scholars who are pursuing their advanced training in high standard international universities.
The Department, in cooperation with other departments at JUST, serves the local community through treating patients, giving oral and dental health instructions and via the scientific and voluntary days, which are conducted annually.
