Alaa Oteir is currently an Assistant Professor and an Assisstant Dean, Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences at JUST. Alaa is a Monash graduate and currently holds an adjunct lecturer position at Monash University, Department of Community Emergency Health and Paramedic Practice. Alaa has a passion for teaching as well as prehospital clinical care and research. His research interests include prehospital trauma care, prehospital care for the spinally injured patients, and the association of prehospital care with patient outcomes.

Mahmoud Alwidyan is an assistant Professor in the paramedic program at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST). He started this position in fall 2017. Dr. Alwidyan holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from JUST. Also, he holds a master’s degree in Emergency Health Services from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), USA. Prior to start his academic studies at UMBC, he worked for more than 10 years in the emergency departments in Jordanian hospitals as a registered nurse and then for two years as a lecturer at JUST. Dr. Alwidyan holds a PhD in disaster science and management from the University of Delaware, USA. In his dissertation research, he examined the views of EMS providers about working during disease outbreaks. His current research interests include disaster health, EMS/Paramedics roles in disasters, and reporting for duty during disease outbreaks.
